Helen Simpson’s Story

In the dead of night, Helen Simpson woke her husband, Ron, and all she could do was point to her head and repeat the word “brain.” Helen was in the process of having a major stroke. Because Ron insisted the ambulance take her to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta, Helen was able to receive a CT scan within moments. She was evaluated by the emergency physician and a teleneurologist and was administered the life-saving drug, tPA. “If we had gone out of town for her emergency care, she may not have made it,” Ron said. “I would tell anyone if they are having an emergency like a stroke, don’t pass this up – come here.”
